Philippines Typhoon Disaster Relief

Typhoon Haiyan decimated the Philippines last week. Two million people in 41 provinces have been affected by the typhoon; officials have estimated that 10,000 people lost their lives. We watched, horrified, as whole cities crumbled and villages were swept out to sea. We watched as reports of desperate people looting for food and supplies came in from news sources worldwide. We watched a nation sink to its knees. But we don’t have to watch anymore. We can do something. You can do something. It Looks Like an Atomic Bomb Hit Here

Colby Gardner is on staff with the Church2Church Department at Adventures in Missions. Recently, he led an Adventures Relief trip to Moore, Oklahoma, where he saw the destruction caused by the massive tornado. There, he witnessed the power of community in a town torn apart by natural disaster. In the Wake of Tragedy, We Remain

What happens in the wake of tragedy? When the cameras stop rolling, and the news starts reporting on the next big thing? What happens when the dust settles, and families return home to find a scattering of debris and memories? We’re there.
