Adventures Arriving in Lesvos

As of January 2016, we’ve only been here for just under two weeks and we’ve already heard stories of boats filling up with water as they cross, and others never making it across at all. It’s a dangerous trip, yet the hope of a safer life is waiting for them on the other side.    We are staying in the little town of Molyvos, which is a home-base for many of the volunteers here. It’s a prime destination spot for tourists during the summer months, and would normally be a quiet little town during the winter. The locals here are so supportive of the...

My Last Night With the Refugees

On her last night in Greece, Kelly Anne Broderick of 2015 Y Squad reflects on all experienced in her 5 weeks serving on the front lines of the Refugee Crisis. We left the way we came. It was fitting. The Only Thing Stronger Than an Earthquake

While serving God in Nepal after the earthquake, Caitlin Roberson realized there is one thing stronger than the earthquake and the devastation it caused: joy. Hundreds of thousands were left homeless as the earthquake flattened their homes and even more were left without food or drinking water. Three months later, I touched down in Nepal for a relief trip. After 70 hours of travel, my co-leader and I were immediately hit with the familiar sounds and smells of...
